(you might need to zoom in..)

There's a crazy cool rave going on at crab island! You wouldn't want to miss it would you? Expand and reinforce your raft to make sure you get there in one piece!

If you're an epic gamer, you can figure stuff out on your own while playing. However, i find that people lose interest rather quickly when they don't know how to play the game. AND having an ingame tutorial would both be time consuming to make, and people just want to play the damn game. Sooo... Theres a walkthrough down below.

Unfortunately, do to time restrictions, i didnt get to test the html export much, leading to framerate and timing issues, along with some graphical glitches. I wouldve included a standalone build, but ive already overwritten the main game with the patches for html5 export. rip

Walkthrough & Tutorial

This is Crab Waves!

A really cool raft with inpenetrable defenses

First off, basic stuff. Any item that gets in contact in water, is lost. Make sure to keep track of which rafts your items are safe at!

Rafts each have their own individual durability bar. 25 durability each, with a maximum of 5 rafts. Overall, you can get up to 125 health with all rafts used up.

Modes

Change modes by clicking the big button at the bottom right, or by pressing space!

Claw Tool

You are a crab. Crabs have claws. While in claw mode, hold and drag your left click to catch objects, or drag and drop to reposition them.

Crabs need to eat. Luckily, some shrimps come by sometimes. Just snatch them in claw mode to eat them and regenerate your hunger!

Hammer Tool

Crabs don't have hammers, but you happen to have one. First, click on an object. Once that object is selected, it can be hammered down by clicking again, either for defending or for decorating. Your choice!

Pieces of cardboard can be used to extend your raft, doing so will also increase your overall raft health!

Using the same tool, you can also place down a stick, and combine it with a cardboard sheet, and you'll make a sail! It grants you a small speed boost to get to the destination faster.

Thats about it! All you have to do is reach the end island in one piece, and you win the game!

Developer yap

This project was made in two days only, despite the 1 week given creation time. I found out about the jam late, but i still wanted to participate. I decided to land on a simple pixel art style to reduce art creation time, and used a limited palette to further make my lack of art skills look intentional
